Ribbon Shopping

I've hit the motherload! Thanks to my Mother!

She had gobs of ribbon ... and I mean drawers and boxes of ribbon. There was apparently a garage sale and ... you know the rest. Now she could open a ribbon store.

I got to "shop" at the ribbon store and walked away with some pretty good booty. This is the box that I am hauling back with me. So glad we just had California Closets install my crafting station so I'll actually have a place to store this ribbon.

I'm most excited about this daisy ribbon, and these "pearls" on a string ... not sure how I would affix them, but where there is bling there is a way!

She also had these two cute hole punchers she hadn't used -- a flower and a butterfly. yippee! Can't wait to use them. I see a project in my weekend's future.

Today I'm attempting to fly back to CA... this is always a trick between Great Lakes, the flakiest airlines in all the land, and ND weather. WOO! Say a little prayer for me. :-) I want to use my ribbon!

Cheers!

I am visiting my parents in the big ND due to two family deaths. A nice lady from my parents' church brought over dinner one night without even anyone asking. Thanks Avonne!

Today I was able to "scrap" together what I would call a "cheater" card ... but I think it still turned out cute.

I used the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge and it has a leaf, shadow and a phrase that says "Grateful." My mom had a pack of the DCWV A2 card packs in Winter, so probably a little blue than I would have normally done for a leaf card but hey ... it's a "cheater" card, you do what you can do.

She also had a super cute Stack from DCWV called nursery rhymes or something to that effect. Loves it! I found a paper that had glitter -- pre-installed bling! More cheating! I think add the leaf (and its shadow) to the inside of the card, and then wrote a note telling her how much we love to eat delivered dinner. yah!

I was also able to update my mom's Gypsy and her Cricut so ... overall the trip was totally worth it. Headed back to CA tomorrow, Lord willing ...
Sophie's Vanna's Choice

I stay in the craft room when I visit my parents. It used to be my brother's room, but now it holds gobs of 12x12 paper and millions of pairs of scissors. (See also: I'm jealous).

The best part is that I found that Vanna White isn't relying on her days at Wheel of Fortune to last forever. Oh no, Vanna is diversifying. She has gone into ... what else? Yarn. Yep.

So help Vanna when Pat gives her the boot... next time you need acrylic yarn, help a sista out. "I know you'll love it" as much as she claims to.

Sometimes life is hard. This is one of those times, but even in the midst of tragedy and the road to recovery ... it could be much harder. This is one of those times I appreciate my awesome family even more than usual. It's good that I am in North Dakota, though I didn't know I would be here at this time last week. It's good that I have an awesome mom, dad, brother and sister-in-law, and we can all be in this rough time together. It would be even better to have sleep and more laughter than tears, but that will come. Not to mention that when we relent and realize we can't do it, God shows up. And He definitely has.

I just got in three new Cricut cartridges from the awesome gals at Custom Crops. Love them! Wish I could buy up the whole store.

My new carts are:
Paisley
Paper Dolls Dress Up
Stretch Your Imagination

Last night I was fiddling with the Paper Dolls cart to make a cover for my new sticker binders. Finally had to move to TWO binders. Woah is me and my sticker obsession.

I got the first cover done, here's a pic.

I used ONLY the Paper Dolls cart for the whole thing + DCWV paper. The doll is cut at 5.5 inches. I added the VW bug in the lower right corner for my dad, who restores VWs. Hugs dad!

Cheers!
